Treatment for Pneumonia Symptoms

Pneumonia symptoms can be treated with antibiotics. The choice of antibiotics for pneumonia symptoms depends on the person’s age, medical conditions, smoking and drinking habits and medications he/she may be taking. The patient should consume plenty of fluids and stay hydrated. Ibuprofen (Advil) and Acetaminophen (Tylenol) may be given for fever and pain. In case the patient is suffering from acute shortage of breath or lowered oxygen levels, he/she may be needed to be admitted in hospital. Very serious cases of pneumonia symptoms may require a breathing tube in the windpipe to assist with breathing.
